Mixed Case - Autumn
Our autumn mixed case is perfect for cosy nights in with warming dishes. It consists of 12 bottles (six white wines and six red wines), two bottles each of the following six wines:
David & Nadia Aristargos 2018
Aristargos is a white blend of Chenin Blanc, Semillon, and a mix of white Rhone varieties. It is a broad, textured, and ripe white with lovely bright acidity and a very long finish. David and Nadia Sadie were recently named "Young Winemakers of the Year" by Tim Atkin MW in his South Africa 2020 report. There is no doubt that they have quickly cemented their place amongst the top producers in South Africa.
Les Heritiers du Comte Lafon Macon-Villages 2018
The Macon-Villages from Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon has flavours of bright lemon and stone fruit and zippy acidity. Dominique Lafon is considered one of the finest winemakers in France. Since 1985, he has been managing his family winery in Meursault, the world-renowned Domaine des Comtes Lafon. But in 1999, Dominique saw potential in a region that no other Cote d’Or winemaker had paid any attention to. He purchased 14 hectares of vines in the Maconnais and today Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon is one of the most well-respected producers in the region.
Lyrarakis Assyrtiko Voila 2019
Lyrarakis is a family-owned winery on the Greek island of Crete. This Assyrtiko comes from the Voila area of Crete and is dry-farmed at 580m altitude. It's a lovely wine that offers concentrated lemon and white nectarine with a refreshing and saline finish.
Fontodi Chianti Classico 2017
'The 2017 Chianti Classico Fontodi is a wine of extreme elegance that shows how much the house style has evolved here. A decade ago, in a warm year the Fontodi Chianti Classico would have been opulent, but these days proprietor Giovanni Manetti seeks finesse more than power, and that is exactly what comes through here. Ripe red Sangiovese fruit, rose petal, blood orange and spice infuse this racy, exotic Chianti Classico with so much character. The 2017 spent two years in oak, half in cask and half in neutral oak. I loved it.... Fontodi’s Chianti Classico is a sort of super-wine in its peer group, as it really has very few peers.' - Antonio Galloni, Vinous
GD Vajra Langhe Nebbiolo 2018
GD Vajra makes beautiful, elegant, and vibrant wines and is one of our favourite producers from Piedmont. The estate was one of the first in the region to embrace organic practices (since 1971!).
'The 2018 Langhe Nebbiolo emerges from a parcel in Sinio. Dark fruit, spice, earthy notes and a good bit of tannin give the Vajra's Langhe Nebbiolo a decidedly brooding, powerful feel and quite a bit more seriousness than is typical at this level. Sweet red berry fruit, mint and spice add freshness alongside bright acidity as the 2018 opens up in the glass. This is such a pretty and expressive wine.' - Antonio Galloni, Vinous
Mullineux Kloof Street Swartland Rouge 2018
The Kloof Street Rouge is predominantly a blend of Syrah and Tinta Barocca with spicy, rich dark fruit and notable tannins. It comes from Mullineux, one of the top wineries in South Africa. The estate has old vines that are farmed sustainably in Swartland, north of Cape Town.
