About Fiona Leroy
We’re pleased to introduce the wines of Fiona Leroy, a bright young star making waves in Burgundy for her deliciously intense and pure wines. Her tiny 2.7-hectare domaine is perched at the southernmost tip of the Cote de Beaune in the village of Dezize-les-Maranges.
The Maranges appellation is one of the most ecologically diverse areas of the Cote d’Or, with meadows, woods, pastures, and rivers all adding to the natural ecosystem of the area. Geologically it is similar to the northern areas of the Cote de Beaune, with a mix of limestone and clay.
Fiona, committed to preserving the natural environment, practices organic viticulture and uses biodynamic treatments in the vineyards. In the cellar winemaking is traditional and all work is done by hand to highlight the character of the terroir. Native yeast fermentation is employed, no new oak is used, and only very small amounts of sulphur are added. The whites are pressed upon reaching the winery, allowed to settle, and then barrel fermented and aged. The reds are destemmed except for the 1er Cru Clos des Loyeres which sees some whole bunches.
In only her third vintage, Fiona has produced, in our opinion, her finest vintage yet. They are beautiful wines without artifice - lifted and perfumed, wonderfully intense, and with lovely freshness countering the perfectly ripe fruit.
