We believe some of the best wines in the world are made using organic, biodynamic, and sustainable methods. Increasingly, world class winemakers are moving towards these practices because they believe it makes an incredible impact on the wines they produce.

Much of the wine available today has been produced using a number of chemicals and additives. They are put into the soil or on the vines, or later when the wine is being made. But increasingly, producers are moving towards organic and biodynamic practices not just in Europe, but around the world.

Organic farming practices exclude all chemical fertilisers, pesticides, fungicides and herbicides which is important for a number of reasons. Releasing less chemicals into the soil is, of course, much better for the environment. It also results in fewer chemicals that make it into your glass of wine, which we think is a very good thing.

Biodynamic wine production is similar to organic in that it doesn’t use chemicals, but it takes things one step further. Biodynamic winemaking focusses on the entire ecosystem of the vineyard, including biodiversity of the insects, animals and other plants, soil fertility and crop nutrition. Biodynamic farmers also focus on how the moon influences the vineyard, dictating when to pick fruit, prune vines and even bottle the wine.

But what does all this mean for your glass of wine? We believe that great winemakers working organically or biodynamically make wines with more vibrancy and character, and therefore are producing some of the best wines in the world.
